Today was a busy day for the guys, but us ladies had a chance to hang out, get to know people better, and work on our lessons for English class today. The youth room on the roof looks pretty close to completion. In my post yesterday, I mentioned how I wasn´t sure where the extra wood for the roof would come from (they rarely buy anything new, they just reuse other things to make pieces and parts of buildings. There is little rain, few bugs and is never too windy, so they can get away with having a make shift structure). What an ingenious idea, though. When I returned this afternoon to the roof to see its progress, I noticed that they had used the walls from the old building (since they expanded the room, they are using 3 sides of the existing brick wall and one wood front wall, and had left over walls that have become part of the roof). Good thinking! I am learning a lot about being resourceful on this mission trip!
We have had some amazing devotional time as a team. I´m not speaking alone when I say that I feel changed by so much of what has happened here. I will try to elaborate tomorrow.
English classes went well tonight. We did more interaction with the students, in all three class levels. Liz and I did several fun games for vocab (basic class), Christina and Mark did charades and Carey and John did a "Who´s Line is it anyway?" type of game. At the end of the night, all of the students come together and we sing the song called "Big House." It was much more lively and fun tonight. We are hopeful that we have established some relationships and shown God´s love by the end of the week!
I will try to have more photos posted tomorrow and more things to talk about. Trust me, there´s not a lack of things to write about, there´s just a lack of time for me to do the writing!
Please continue to pray for us. We have been praying for you back home, too.
