Today was busy! We began the morning with breakfast and our daily devotions, as usual. After that, a few of us worked on installing the trash can/stands. They are not trash cans as we would imagine, but rather an elevated shelf on which to place your small bags of trash. You can see on pictured below. There is a lot of problems with trash... with all of the stray dogs and bags of trash just being left on the sidewalks for trash crews to pick up, there ends up being a lot of litter! These trash stands will keep the animals out.

Liz lead a women´s conference at 4 p.m. She had an interpreter, so she said she felt kind of funny because she´s never had to deliver a message with one before. She did great, though. We sang songs in English and Spanish. A woman from El Alfarero shared her testimony. It was very moving. The whole afternoon was so emotional! I have some pictures below.

English class went very well for all of us. We are really getting into the groove and our students seem to be learning a lot and enjoying themselves. I don´t have pictures of the classes yet, so I will be sure to take some tomorrow night.

Christina, John, Mark and Roberto (our Peruvian helper) are working on one of the trash can stands. You can see the stand on the right side of the picture. They are digging the hole, which had to be about 18 inches deep, then the stand is place in, concrete is mixed and poured into the hole, then we covered it back up with dirt.

Our group of ladies for the women´s conference.

In Peru, I am the Jolly White Giant! Here I am with our very special friend, Martha. She gave her testimony at the women´s conference.

Carey and Liz (Leez) at the women´s conference. These two have become good friends.

They have been feeding us well here! Our women´s conference snack consisted of: chips, ice cream, chocolate, jello cake and coca cola! We ate this right before English class began for the evening, so us ladies were very energized to teach!
